Shooting the Proof of Concept for The Scape Ore Incident

Jerald Garner September 2019

Due to the increased occurrences of strange events we are on the verge of finding life any month due to the Kepler telescope. Jerald Garner decided to write and produce the Shadow Universe storyline.  The series is inspired by his life and has been a witness to paranormal events since the age of five. Jerald has deeply religious, spiritual, scientific and philosophical background with extensive experience in the US military with contacts throughout the government in his life as to what is exactly going on in this reality. After writing 5 of the original 8 films it came to his realization that in order to get the funding he would need to do a lower budget but high concept prequel. Jerald meet with Brian Dillingham. Brian was a producer whose work spans both film and television. His credits include the television documentary The Great Year narrated by James Earl Jones, the feature film Spectres, and the shorts Our RoboCop Remake – Scene 9A and Cleats of Imminent Doom. He is a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Jerald meet Robert Murphy from his home state of Texas who is an amazing DP. Jerald's old friend and top Earnst and Young Accountant, Robert Hymers came on board as executive producer. In order to be fully funded a Proof of Concept was needed and he four along with other teammates completed the POC and remain dedicated to making the horror/SciFi to life.

Producing in Texas vs. Los Angeles

Jerald Garner - January 2020

Houston is:

  1. The third-largest city in the U.S. and home to 54 Fortune 500 companies, second only to New York City’s 55.

  2. Approximately 145 languages are spoken here.

  3. Overall after-taxes living costs are 5.6 percent below the average for all 308 urban areas recently surveyed.

  4. Houston is a major-league sports town, and don’t forget the annual Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.

  5. The weather is great! Mild winters ensure that outdoor activities can be enjoyed year-round.

  6. World-renowned medical care. The Houston metro area has long been known for its first-rate healthcare system, with many Houston area hospitals consistently ranking among the nation’s top institutions.

  7. With over 150 museums and cultural institutions in the Greater Houston area, museums are a large part of Houston’s cultural scene.

  8. Houston is the Culture & Culinary Capital of Texas with more than 7,500 restaurants and eating establishments covering 60+ cuisines.

With modest funding to start, extensive contacts and access to Los Angeles production members, Houston was a logical move to build a production studio.
